Check DNS using MXToolbox The MXToolbox SuperTool can be used to check different DNS records for a domain including: A, MX, CNAME, TXT, etc. 1. Start by heading over the the SuperTool page as referenced above. 2. With the tool page open, enter your domain name into the search box. 3. From here you can choose the type of DNS record you want to check using the dropdown menu. 4. Now using the search bar click the button for your lookup, in this example we are using DNS Check that will query that domains nameservers. You can use this to verify that those changes resolve externally. Check DNS with Whats My DNS You can use the website What’s My DNS to check DNS records externally and see how they resolve across various servers around the world. 1. Start by opening What’s My DNS in your browser. 2. Now you can enter your domain name into the search box. 3. From here you can choose the type of DNS record you want to check using the dropdown menu. You have a few options to choose from here, we will be querying the A record which will show where the website is pointed to. 4. Finally, using the search button you can query that domain for the selected record. This will provide an output similar to below which shows the website resolving correct across different regions globally.

Post Office Protocol version 3 or POP3 (POP), is one of the most widely used mail server protocols for retrieving email to a local device. It was designed to be simplistic and efficient, allowing users to download messages from the mails server to be stored locally whilst removing them from the server. Setting up an email on your Android device is easy. We have discussed how to add your email address to Gmail previously. However, adding an email account in Android is different as it requires a different mail protocol for other email addresses, IMAP. IMAP or Internet Message Access Protocol works differently compared with POP3. Where POP3 downloads the emails to the device, IMAP stores emails on the mail server, allowing the user to access those emails from multiple devices. POP3 isn’t recommended for mobiles as it would eat into the limited available space, harming your overall user experience. Change your Gmail settings Before we can start adding the email to the Android device, first make sure that your Gmail account has IMAP enabled. This is disabled by default and without it enabled you will not be able to add your account. 1. Firstly, open the Gmail web application on your computer. 2. Afterwards, you will be prompted to log in to your Gmail or Google Account and use the one you use on the device. 3. Now you have logged in, in the top right of the Gmail window, click the settings cog and then click see all settings in the dialogue box. 4. From here, click on the tab Forwarding and POP/IMAP. 5. Finally, under IMAP access, click Enable IMAP and click Save Changes. Add email to Android device To add an email you’ll need to have one set up, if you haven’t already, do this now. Create a custom domain email. 1. Firstly, using your Android device, find and open the Gmail application. 2. Afterwards, in the Gmail app. Click the porthole icon, this opens the account management interface. This might look different if you don’t have an existing account. 3. Next, click add another account. This starts the in-app account creation wizard. 4. From here, you can see all the different email providers that work with Gmail. Click Other (IMAP) to start setup. Incoming server settings 1. Enter your email address, this can be anything you want and is effectively just a display name. Click Next to continue. 2. Afterwards, in the username field, enter your email address matching your email in the cPanel account. 3. For the password, use the same password as the above address. 4. Once you have entered your password, enter your IMAP server which is your domain. 5. Finally, the default set-up is Port 993 with SSL/TLS selected. Keep these defaults and click Next to continue. Outgoing server settings The outgoing server settings are almost identical to the incoming settings. The only difference is the additional SMTP server field. And, the port, which by default is 465, is the secured port for SMTP connections. Copy the remaining settings from the above instructions, including username, password, and server. Click Next to finalise the changes. Finish setting up your email in Android After adding your outgoing server settings, enter the display name. This is what will be displayed on all messages sent from the account. Finally, click Next, the wizard will run final validation checks and notify you of any issues.

In this guide we’ll walk through the export & import process using Outlook to transfer emails to your new web hosting account from your previous email hosting provider. Initial Preparation in cPanel Before you can transfer in any mail you’ll need to first set up your email accounts in cPanel. These accounts need to perfectly mirror the set up at your existing provider so that the emails can be imported into those accounts here. Exporting mail with Outlook To start the manual migration process you’ll need to export mail first, we’ll do this with a .pst file. You can follow on below. 2. Moving forward you’ll need to click Export to a file as shown, followed by Next. 3. Afterwards, select Outlook Data File (.pst) and then click Next. 4. From here, select the folders you want to export (if you want to include subfolders, make sure that’s checked). To continue click Next. 5. After select the folder you would like the backup saved to and configure the options for duplicate items as required. 6. Finally, you have the option of protecting your .pst backup with a password, this is good option if you want to keep it a secured. Just be careful you don’t lose it! Importing mail with Outlook. Now to move that mail back over to your new account you’ll first need to switch to that account in Outlook and then follow on from below. 1. First, start by opening the File menu (this step is almost exactly the same as for exporting). Then from the Open & Export menu click Import/Export. 2. Afterwards from the Wizard dialogue box, select Import from another program or file then click Next. 3. Moving on, click on Outlook Data File (.pst) as before. Then click Next. 4. Finally, select the file you made earlier and then click Next. Verifying successful transfer Once you’ve completed the steps above, you can login to your webmail account and check that everything is where it should be. If that’s all worked great, the migration/transfer was successful. Once the emails have been copied to your new inbox, it’s important to verify that the transfer was successful.

However, by default, iPhone selects not to store sent items on the server. This can be confusing if you use multiple mailboxes, as items sent via the iPhone will not show on the sent folder on the server. Adding the functionality for these items to be stored on both the iPhone and the server is rather simple.  1. On your iPhone Click settings. 2. Click mail, contact, and calendars. 3. Select the mail account you want to change. 4. Click on account info. Scroll down to advanced. 5. You will now see a screen that says “Advanced”. In this screen is a section called “Mailbox Behaviours”. Click on sent – mailbox button, this will display two sections. “On My iPhone” and “On the server”. 6. In the section “on the server” should be a list of all your mailboxes. 7. Scroll down to sent items on the mail server and select sent items. When you send an email from your iPhone, a copy will be passed to your mail server. Your iPhone is now configured to record sent mail on the device and server.
